Visibility controls allow you to show or hide form elements in your survey based on answers given to previous questions. Combining these with our page jump rule functionality, visibility controls allow you to run fully adaptive surveys.
When editing a form element, note the Control Visibility section at the bottom of the modal window. It allows you to set rules for this element based on the setting of control elements above the element for which the rules are set.
Control Elements
Control elements are closed questions. Usabilla provides the following control elements:
- NPS
- Radio Button
- Dropdown Menu
- Checkboxes
- Rating questions
Visibility rules can only be set for elements following any of these (so that the control element can affect them). If an element is not preceded by a control element you will not be able to set up visibility controls for this element.
Setting Visibility Controls
As demonstrated in the above screenshot defining the visibility control is a three-step process.
First, define the question that influences the element visibility. Then select the answer option that needs to be selected and finally determines whether this element should be shown or hidden.
- When = Control Element
- is = Chosen answer on control element
- State = Show or Hide this element (when the previous conditions are met)
Multiple visibility options can be set for elements, based on one or more control elements. You can ensure your visibility options are working correctly by using the campaign preview.
